Beers, Tears and Big Dreams

cowpuncher Calgary, Toronto

Last week we had an absolutely awesome time playing at the University of Calgary for their Bermuda Shorts Day semester end bash. It was an epic crowd and the day was toasty enough for us to experience our first sun burns of the year!

So #BSD ruled. How was your Monday? #yyc #yycmusic

The next morning we woke up to the horrible news that five people were fatally stabbed at a BSD after party. Two of the victims were members of the local band Zackariah and the Prophets. Hot of the heals of their first EP release only two days earlier, this is a devastating turn of events.

The Calgary music community mourns the loss of a band that was just starting to break out. And there’s no changing the fact that five young lives have been senselessly lost to the worst mass murder in our city’s history. Our deepest condolences go out to the friends and families of Zackariah Rathwell, Josh Hunter, Jordan Segura, Lawrence Hong and Kaiti Perras.

We are taking a short hiatus this weekend to write and prepare for some of the festivals coming up this spring and summer.

On Friday May 2 we will be performing for Mill St Brewery from 4-8PM at the 10th annual Calgary Beerfest. The streets will run yellow with beer!
