Cowpuncher - www.wepunchcows.com
Cowpuncher – a born and raised Calgary band specializing in sweaty, punchy rock n’ roll – is gearing up for the 2015 release of their fourth album, Hustle. Working with Toronto based producer Derek Downham (Serena Ryder, Jim Cuddy, Sam Roberts) Cowpuncher has energized their roots infused rock ‘n’ roll with driving beats and pulsing bass lines to bring their audiences the high-energy rock experience they’ve come to expect.
Playing over 60 shows in five provinces in 2014 alone, these veteran performers have [un]graced the stages at Sled Island in Calgary, Canada Music Week in Toronto, and Dauphin Country Fest in Dauphin, MB. They were also selected alongside 10 Calgary artists to represent the city’s talent at SoundOff, an event where music industry delegates from across North America were flown in to attend live performances and network with the bands. Cowpuncher’s intense, high energy live show will leave your fist pumping and your ears ringing with their raw, anthemic – yet heartfelt songs.
Catlow - catlowmusic.com
Catlow, Vancouver native, Aporia Records indie-pop musicians Natasha Thirsk, Jay Slye, Squid, Barry Higginson (Previous Tenants), Emily Bach (Dirty Spells), Laurel Borrowman, Cory B, Justin McDonald (The Bremmentown Players) just released this year’s NEW RELEASE
“LOSE CONTROL/STORMSAD” with produced by super talented producer Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, New Pornographers, Mother Mother) and have created hopelessly catchy, bouncy pop-electro and arrestingly angular grooves, with lithe, intelligent vocals and symphonic layered sparkling guitars, synths and violin. Catlow’s LOSE CONTROL/STORMSAD SINGLE (A/B sides) was just released on Aporia Records Feb 3- 2015.
After winning a Sonicbids contest to play Tuscany’s Arezzo Wave Festival in front of thousands of people in Italy last year, Catlow zipped across the alps and then to the UK for some dates in London. After playing and speaking on a panel
for Music Placements in TV and Film at Austin, Texas’ MEOW Festival, Natasha spent a week of writing, recording and playing in Nashville. This spring Catlow recorded some new tracks with Darryl Neudorf in Ontario, finishing the production with Howard Redekopp in Vancouver this fall.
Catlow was fortunate enough to win Collective Arts Brewingcompany first round of artists series and had her picture put on a beer bottle label in September as well as features with the Collective Arts Brewing in December with their video for Number One..
Olde Ghosts - www.facebook.com/OLDEGHOSTCALGARY
Olde Ghosts is the collaboration of four long time musicians who simply write the music that they've always wanted to hear. The product is some heavy, riffy mountain rock. Big vocals, loud guitars, fuzz bass and smashing drums with a tightness you can only get after years of playing.
